The welfare and comfort of our equines are our number one priority, after all without them we have no Centre! We are required by law under the Animal Welfare Act 2013 and by the bodies that approve us AIRE (Association of Irish Riding Establishments) and the BHS (British Horse Society) to ensure high standards of care for our horses and ponies.

So why are we weighing the horses and ponies?

We weighed them to ensure they are only asked to carry weight they are capable and comfortable carrying.

We also weighed the horses and ponies so we can establish the correct portions of feed, hay, medicine & supplements to give them.

Do the horses in Cherry Orchard Equine Centre have a maximum rider weight and if so, why?
